Why not call it the “Kill in Self-Defense” Tunnel instead?

Some piss-poor government whore (formerly known as “Artist with Not Enough Talent to Support His Drug Habit”, nee “Richard Whitehouse") had apparently alleged that he had created a “Punch In The Face” Tunnel, where people who entered this long tunnel, which progressively narrowed until the entrant was reduced from walking, to crouching, to kneeling, to crawling, and was then punched in the face by the artist as he or she emerged from the narrow end of the tunnel.

I’ll let the Government Whore tell the tale, in s’h’it’s own words:

In 2007 at the Seward Projects Space in Columbus, I had my first breakthrough with an installation that was to be the prototype for this current one. It was called THE PUNCH-YOU-IN-THE-FACE TUNNEL. It was the same set-up as THE RAPE TUNNEL except at the end of the tunnel I’d punch the subject in the face instead of raping him or her. The impetus was completely reactionary to the current state of art, and motivated by pure frustration.

As it turns out, I ended up breaking the nose of the third person to crawl through the tunnel, an aspiring model. She went to the hospital and eventually sued me. Her modeling career was put on hold. The civil case was long and drawn out and the matter still hasn’t been resolved. To this day she still has unpaid medical bills. The point of this long aside is that all this took place two years ago, and I’m still having an impact on this young lady’s life, something not many other artists could claim about their work

Rape seemed like the next logical step.

I would encourage s’h’it to take the show to somewhere where rape isn’t a punchline and murder isn’t just the next “cool video” on YouTube. Somewhere where CCW doesn’t mean “counterclockwise” and 9-1-1 is called primarily to clean up after the criminal had been dealt with.

The Darwin Awards should be notified first, though. They’ll want all the details for the judging process.

(Update: Turns out it was a hoax. Maybe the next “performance artist” ought to oh-so-artistically duct tape his naked ass to a freeway overpass or something non-lethal but very educational. Call it “The Cold Cruel Hand of Karma”.)

Massive earthquake south of American Samoa

There has been a massive 8.3 Richter-scale earth quake roughly 120 miles south of American Samoa, and the Pacific Tsunami warning center has been activated, with reports of a tsunami reaching extremely dangerous levels (I keep hearing them switch between 12 feet and 12 meters, but either of those can be deadly, with massive devastation in low-lying coastal areas). That is TEN TIMES more powerful than the 1989 San Francisco quake (La Prieta, IIRC - the one that hit during the World Series).

This quake has been upgraded from 7.9 to 8.3 and early reports are that the shaking went on for FIVE MINUTES! We are now hearing reports of a 6.1 aftershock.

Pray, people. This one could hurt.

That Fucking Scumbag

In what will become a soon-to-be-longstanding tradition here at the Rants, I hereby institute a new category, to be entitled, “That Fucking Scumbag”. It is intended to be used whenever the current Present of the United States does something that continues to show exactly why he is unfit to hold the office that he does.

I shall introduce it with a little note about how TFS (the Approved acronym for B. Hussein Soertoro-Obama) is fucking over those who fought and risked their lives for a country they were not yet legally a part of.

Let me set up the tale, if I may…

From Wikipedia:

The Alaska Territorial Guard (ATG) or Eskimo Scouts was a military reserve force component of the US Army, organized in 1942 in response to attacks on American soil in Hawaii and Alaska by Japan during World War II. The ATG operated until 1947. 6,368 volunteers who served without pay were enrolled from 107 communities throughout Alaska in addition to a paid staff of 21, according to an official roster.

The ATG brought together for the first time into a joint effort members of these ethnic groups: Aleut, Athabaskan, European American, Inupiaq, Haida, Tlingit, Tsimshian, Yupik, and most likely others. In later years, all members of some native units scored expert sharpshooter rankings. Among the 27 or more women members were at least one whose riflery skills exceeded the men. The ages of members at enrollment ranged from 80 years old to as young as twelve. (both extremes occurring mostly in sparsely populated areas)

One minor problem lay in the fact that Alaska was not a State at that time (they didn’t join the Union until 1959). But that isn’t the issue.

There are currently only 26 of those 6,368 still alive. Remember, though, they served without pay during the height of WW2 in the Pacific Theater. You can read about a few of their exploits here.

And TFS is trying to cut off their pensions!

WASHINGTON — In a strongly worded message to Congress outlining its priorities for a military spending bill, the Obama administration today said it disapproved of including money for pensions for 26 elderly members of the World War II-era Alaska Territorial Guard.

The Guardsmen are among those assigned to protect Alaska from the Japanese during World War II.

….Sen. Lisa Murkowski, who along with Sen. Mark Begich, D-Alaska, sponsored the fix [to the pensions], called the administration move “deeply disappointing, bordering on insensitive.” The legislation honors 26 elderly Native people who are the few remaining survivors of a military unit that served the country with valor, Murkowski said.

“The administration’s justification, which is that the legislation will set the precedent of treating service as a state employee as federal service, defies logic and history,” she said in a statement. “Sixty-two years after the Territorial Guard was disbanded, the Obama administration minimizes the contribution of this gallant unit to America’s success in World War II by calling its service ’state service.’ “

That is exactly why I am instituting the new category. Feel free to submit your own and I will be happy to post them.

Get Health Insurance or Go To Jail

That will be the newest option offered by Senator Max Baucus’ health “reform” bill. It has already been shown that the refusal to get insurance will result in an additional $950 (or $1,900) excise tax (yes, it is a tax, 99% of which will be paid by those making less than $200K/yr), and up to $3,800 for a family of four. Given that most of the very poor families can’t afford the few hundred dollars per month it would take to afford the level of insurance required by the Feds, there is no chance that they would be able to pay the extra $3,800 in extra taxes.

Ahhh, but Baucus already has contingency plans in place as to how to deal with those recalcitrant types who try to fly below the radar and not get health insurance, yet not pay the hefty fines

Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.) received a handwritten note Thursday from Joint Committee on Taxation Chief of Staff Tom Barthold confirming the penalty for failing to pay the up to $1,900 fee for not buying health insurance.

Violators could be charged with a misdemeanor and could face up to a year in jail or a $25,000 penalty, Barthold wrote on JCT letterhead. He signed it “Sincerely, Thomas A. Barthold.”

Copy of the actual note can be found here.

Why are all of the horror stories told in order to scare us into agreeing with this clusterfuck monstrosity about people that have no insurance? Why not concentrate on just covering those people and leaving the rest of us alone?

Let’s be generous and say that the numbers being thrown around earlier this year are even remotely correct. Let’s say fifty million people have absolutely no access to insurance at all (rather than simply choosing not to be covered, or being an illegal alien, or being a minor child not specifically covered under their parent’s policies). Fifty million times $200 per month (well over the actual cost of premiums) is $10 billion per month.

We would be able to pay for health insurance for those people for less than a third of what we spend on Medicare ($413 billion in 2009).

But Dems think it would be cheaper to send them all to jail.

As has been said, it isn’t about health care, it’s about controlling the population.

This chaps my ass

This is the biggest, stinking, sweating warning sign EVAH for a health-care bill.

THIS is why we should call every rep and senator we have and tell them, unequivocally, that if this passes, they are all OUT.  Gop’ers, Dems....all of them.

You. Have. GOT.

To. Be. Fucking. Kidding. Me.

Obama is now “open to the idea” of a newspaper bailout.

Just as when the “bailout” of GM suddenly meant that taxpayers (well, they supply the money, anyway) own voting control, any taxpayer bailout of a newspaper would result in the de jure ownership of whatever news media is bailed out, whether or not it is suddenly a “nonprofit”. (Hey, you fucking moron, the whole PROBLEM is that they are not making any profits.) Would advertisers suddenly be making tax-deductible donations?

I realize that Obama is no more a Constitutional Lawyer than he is a Governmental Executive (regardless of what his current title may be - calling a chair a cow does not mean that it is true), but you would think that somebody who works for him would have at least heard of the First Amendment.

Congress shall make no law ... abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press....

First, I have no idea how Congress can write ANY laws requiring that the press - any of it - do ANYTHING without “abridging [their] freedom”.

Second, the whole concept of bailing out failing businesses with taxpayer money is entirely anathema to a free market. I’m sure that the nation’s largest buggy whip manufacturer thought his business was also “too big to fail” when automobiles became generally affordable, but when it became no longer profitable to sell large quantities of buggy whips, those employees became available to manufacture other things that were profitable, and to adapt to the changing reality of the times. That is the beauty of allowing a business to fail - it releases scarce resources to be more efficiently used by other companies, while eliminating a drag on the standard of living of the entire community, and maybe even the nation or the world.

But when a failing business - that is hemorrhaging money and losing income - is artificially propped up, all that it does is waste those resources, since the money used to do the propping will never be regained. It is as thoroughly lost as though you had dumped it into a hole, soaked it in lighter fluid and used the flames to illuminate a nighttime beach party - once you finish, all you have are the memories of the money you once had.

That money could have been more efficiently used by the taxpayers to power the economy, rather than in increased tax money that was ultimately wasted. And believe me, the Government is already wasting enough money.

Third, the fact that they will be doing what they can to use MY tax dollars to prop up the very same businesses that are bending their efforts to support the current political leadership proves that they are violating MY rights to freely associate. I do not choose to support the Left Wing Media with my money, but the Government is taking away that right to choose which businesses I wish to support, with no control over how that money is being used.

Fourth, when is it going to stop? Government taking over the educational system, banks, the auto industry, the arts (with the NEA), health care insurers/providers, and now the media?

What about contractors? When do I get my bailout? Just $15-20K and I’ll be happy. This year, anyway.

Or cops? I’m sure that John Cross and Helo would like a chunk of that pie, too.

What a crock of shit, but I don’t expect anything else from that off-off-off-Broadway understudy cast of HSM suddenly running things in DC.

I just found out an interesting bit of trivia

I have written here before about how impressive I find the Harry Potter audiobooks, as voiced by Jim Dale. He gives an incredible amount of energy to the characters, and even aging the voices of the regular students as the characters age from 11 to 17. Not just the three main characters, but also the repeating appearances of the classmates and family members, such as Harry’s cousin Dudley, their Gryffindor classmates, and even the other students scattered around the school.

But while that is interesting in and of itself, what I wanted to write about this time was that Jim Dale holds the Guinness World Record for “Greatest Number of Distinct Characters Voiced in an Audio Book” with 134 distinct voices supplied in the fifth Harry Potter book, “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix”.

134. One hundred and thirty-four distinct and recognizable voices.

Kreacher the house-elf.
Kingsley Shacklebolt.
Dolores Umbridge.
Grawp the giant.
Mundungus Fletcher.
Arabella Figg.
Cho Chang.
“He Who Must Not Be Named”.
Lucius Malfoy.
Bellatrix Lastrange (both the “baby” and her “normal” voice, during the Battle of the Department of Mysteries)

And on and on, including all of the members of “Dumbledore’s Army” and the usual cast of characters (Harry, Ron, Hermione, Dumbledore, Fred and George, Draco Malfoy, Professors McGonagall, Flitwick, Sprout, Grubbly-Plank, Luna Lovegood, Neville Longbottom and all the rest).

One hundred and thirty-four different voices.

I don’t think I know that many people.

I was against Government-run health care

...before it was racist to be so.

Now that we have a half-white President and it has become racist to disagree with him on practically anything, I am still against Government-run health care.

Was it racist to be against Government-run health care back when Hillary was pushing it in the mid-90s?
Was it racist to be against betraying our international allies back when Jimmy Carter was doing it in the late 70s?
Was it racist to be against cutting our military back when Bill Clinton was doing it in the late 90s?
Was it racist to be against trying to take over whole segments of the economy when Bush-43 was doing it a few years back?

If it wasn’t racist back then, why would it be racist because we have a half-white President? Why should this President get a pass on being a moron just because of his melanin content?

Here’s a head scratcher for you libs…

Demanding that I kowtow to Bam-Bam because of his skin color is to be demanding that I BECOME racist - you are insisting that I should be treating people differently because of their skin color. What you are objecting to is that I am NOT racist, and that I am treating Barry exactly the same as I would treat any other politician who is trying to take away my property and freedoms.

So take that race card, fold until it is all sharp corners, and suppositorize yourselves. Sideways.

Smack Heard ‘Round The World

President O’bam-bam gets the living Shi’ite slapped out of him in a GREAT column over at American Thinker.

Teaser quote:

Viewers were promised in Barack Obama the easy cool of Denzel Washington, the sincerity of Tom Hanks and the heart of Oprah. Instead, they see on their screens Al Bundy with a tan, pecs, and Harvard Law degree, the first jump-the-shark president.

Damn. I felt that one all the way over here.

Best dance scene

My wife and I are sitting here arguing about one of her favorite shows, “So You Think You Can Dance”, and I pointed out that there are really good dancers who can dance to just about anything. An example is the scene from “White Nights”, where world-class tap dancer Gregory Hines and equally-talented Mikhail Barishnikov do a sort of tap-slash-modern-slash-ballet-slash-capoeira montage that proves my point - that white men CAN dance.

(I can’t, of course, but that is because I’m a bit of a klutz with a bum knee and no patience for large crowds. I did dance at my wedding, though.)

So tell me, what are the best dance scenes you can think of from the movies? Give a You-Tube link if you can, but please don’t try to embed them. I’m not sure if the software could take all the bandwidth through the comments section.

Like I was saying

Obama has no understanding of foreign policy, does he?  Does he lack the proper perspective?  Or, is he an arrogant post-nationalist that doesn’t understand that other human beings don’t share his hippie-derived, peace and love at all costs post-nationalism?

Read this from the standard ‘Obama Administration Friday news dump.

The adult in the room has turned to the screaming, tantrum-throwing child and given him exactly what he wanted....attention.  Now, each time the child wants something....anything, he has learned that all he has to do is throw a tantrum.  Problem is, the adult sees the child as an ‘equal’, and dislikes those other adults that refuse to give in to the child, thinking they are harsh, uncaring, and arrogant themselves.

You all know parents like that, too.  Their kids are complete shits.  And they are so proud of themselves because they are so understanding and ‘close’ to their children.

But this child is a fascist dictator, and a guy that wants to build and sell nuclear weapons.

I hate to say this, but President Obama has NO CLUE.

Census Bureau cuts all ties with ACORN

About fucking time, too. These Criminal Conspiracists known as ACORN were supposed to be heavily involved in the door-to-door collecting of Census 2010 data. Given that these are the same people who signed up “Saddam Hussein” and “Mickey Mouse” to vote in Las Vegas, their employment (especially when it comes to determining who are actually “citizens” and who are merely “residents") was something that the Government needed to get right.

I’m glad that they have. It’s a shame that it took the exposure of clearly criminal behavior to do it.

Found Out On The Web

I found this nifty little equation called “Nerd Love”.

If you don’t follow math, feel free to skip below the fold for the solution.

9X - 7I > 3(3X-7U)

Solve for ‘I’.

Never forget

Even when anti-American asshats want to turn this day into the “Edward M. Kennedy National Day of Service”. Remember instead that almost 3,000 people died in an act of terrorism the world had never seen. Remember the anger you felt on that day. Remember the sorrow.

However, if they had been successful with the 4th plane (Flight 93, the one that crashed in a PA field) that was allegedly aimed for the White House, much of the Middle East would likely be radioactive parking lots today.

Feel free to share your “Where Were You?” stories.
