Andrew Sullivan’s BACK!
And I have some info on Mr. Sullivan’s Blog.
Read on.
For the period that included April and May of 2003, and April and May of 2004, I added up the different entries that Sully made that referenced GWB directly, using the terms “President”, “the president”, “the administration” and “Bush”. I then read them to determine if they were pro- or con- where the President was concerned. Here’s my count:
April-May 2003: 29 pro, 19 con, with the majority of the “con” being related to Bush’s reaction to Jim Santorum’s commentary on homosexual acts and the legality of such.
April-May 2004: 11 pro, 30 con, with the “con” items being split between gay marriage, spending, and foreign policy.
I think it would be safe to assume that if I went through all the entries for 2003 and 2004, we would see a sharp divide around the SOTU address. If you would like the info, let me know.
AND....note that Mr. Sullivan has put a little elephant next to his name. It’s a convention Icon!

Wow, now I have to resume actively ignoring him. Unless he decides to verbally kick Michael Moore in the balls some more.
I’ve now gotten many emails defending the honor of the anti-Kerry Swift Boat vets and claiming that they had nothing - nothing - to do with the Bush campaign. Please. Do I think the vets have a right to say what they believe? Of course they do, and 527s are fine with me. Free speech and all that. Am I exercising a double-standard by not worrying about the Kerry-backed 527s? Hardly. I don’t recall my being soft on MoveOn.org and all the other hysterical anti-Bush screeds; and their connections to the Kerry campaign are obvious. But there is something different between cheap, ugly shots at presidential policy and quibbling with a man’s war medals.
In a word… ...
They shoulda called themselves “Swift Boat Veterans for Gay Marriage.”
Mr. Sullivan’s reason for “coming back” is probably as inane as his reason for “leaving”. What drama.
I will say that Sully takes August off every year.
Now, I’m off to read his take on McCain and Guliani’s speeches.
Fisking will occur as necessary.
