Bank of America sucks
I quit using Bank of America several years ago, and the details aren’t important, but I just had to go into a local branch to deposit a check for a friend and break a $100 bill into smaller bills, in order to do a little Valentine’s Day shopping for Da Missus.
I couldn’t deposit the check because I’m not a signer on the account. I couldn’t break the Ben Franklin because I didn’t have an account there.
I was stunned.
I wasn’t asking for cash back from my friend’s account, I just wanted to give them a simple deposit.
And I wasn’t robbing the place, I just wanted five $20 bills in exchange for a single $100 bill. A fair exchange. Nothing complicated.
They refused, and the only reason I can come up with is that they wouldn’t make any money off me for the transaction.
Fuck them.
Bank of America sucks.
Comments
I can’t believe they wouldn’t break a 100 for you. Unreal.
We are BOA customers.
I cannot even get a certified check without paying a $5.00 fee. We have been customers of this bank since it was Nations bank in ‘97.
They are pathetic.
Lee and I are both direct depositers and we are afraid how long it would take to get a different bank to handle things.
I do not how many times I have left the bank and banged my head against the steering wheel of my car!
Ahhhhhhhh!
BoA’s like that here in Austin, too, Drumwaster. I’ve seen them refuse to cash checks _drawn_on_their_bank_ for non-accountholders (what a disservice to the accountholders who wrote them!) and refuse deposits in coin from a customer who collects for a vending machine route ("Take it to the grocery store and they’ll have a machine that can count it, we don’t take deposits on coin.")
Pretty soon with eliminating services they’ll get to the point that they eliminate all tellers altogether. I wonder if the tellers who are refusing to do anything bankers do have figured that out. When they do, they’ll eliminate the location and the bank itself, and replace them all with ATMS, which, though limited, at least don’t give you attitude about doing bank things.
They take five dollars out of my paycheck (the company’s account is with BOA)when I cash it because I don’t have an account with them, but the thing is, I’m 17, not old enough to HAVE and account with them.
What’s up with that?
A former supervisor of mine who worked for BoA a few years back called them simply, BoA - Bunch of Assholes.
